Friday Update (September 16th)

Emailed Post:

A few notes from Team 22  (Friday - September 16th)

It was great seeing all the students in their blue Parmenter Shirts today!  We have had a very good full week of school.  The students are settling into room 22 nicely.

A yellow note went home today regarding math.  The math website that the students use is https://www.pearsonrealize.com
Students have their user name and password.  (It is the same as their chromebook sign-ons)    I will be sending home additional information next week about how to sign onto Pearson.

Weekly Reading Logs and Assignments:
Each week students in the third grade are expected to read 15 minutes each evening.  On Friday they have a log to turn in that shows the name of the book they are reading and also how many minutes they read.   On the back of the sheet they are to complete two out of the three boxes to show they have an understanding of what they read.
This weekend you will see that your child is bringing home their work that represents a week worth of reading homework.  We had a discussion about what is third grade effort and what a piece of work should look like.  I have asked ALL students to discuss this with you this weekend.  I have offered many of them a second chance to turn in this work on Monday.  I want to set the tone of working hard and producing third grade work from the very start of the school year.  I am hoping you may have a discussion with your child about the importance of completing the homework and feeling that is shows their best effort.

I will be sending out our classroom blog next week.   If you are on Twitter:    https://twitter.com/MrtigheTeach
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a great weekend,

Ed Tighe

If you did not receive this email from Team 22, please let me know so I can update our email distribution list.  Thanks-  Mr. Tighe

Hello Members of Team 22!

Welcome to Third Grade!  It has been a wonderful first two weeks of school!  I wanted to share a few items with you.  I will have a classroom blog to share with you in the next few weeks and will give more details at Open House on Thursday, September 29th at 6 P.M.

We have been working very hard at the routines of grade 3.  The students are making a very good transition from “primary elementary” to “upper elementary.”  We are working on a daily basis on the expectations of grade 3 and also the expectations as a student of the G.M. Parmenter Elementary School.

I wanted to thank you for getting in all the start of school paperwork.  I know there was a great deal of items to turn fill out and turn in.  Thank you for your support in getting that paperwork back to me.

Great job on Summer Math and Reading work, our class if getting very close to 100% for completion.  Please remember that all logs are due back at school on Friday, September 9, 2016.

Please be aware that we have an Allergen Aware Classroom.  I would like to encourage parents/guardians not to send in snacks that may contain peanuts or tree nuts, as snacks are consumed in the classroom.  Students may bring foods with peanuts or tree nuts for lunch in the cafeteria.  Thank you for supporting our Allergen Aware Classroom.

I just wanted to give you a quick update of how everything is going so far with Team 22-Grade 3.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year in grade 3.

Stay tuned for further emails and directions on how to sign up for our classroom blog.

Ed Tighe
